Anti-passback & lockout: exceptions and zone-specific control

Anti-passback and the lockout period protect your construction site against misuse of access cards. You can specifically exempt individual roles such as site security or the client from these rules without relaxing the requirements for everyone else. In addition, anti-passback can now also be controlled per zone.

What is anti-passback and what is the lockout period?

• Anti-passback prevents repeated check-ins without a prior check-out. This stops an access card from being passed on to other people: anyone who is already checked in cannot enter again without having checked out first.
• Lockout period prevents re-entry directly after leaving. After checking out, a defined period (e.g. 5 minutes) must pass before access is possible again.

(A) Granting exceptions via permissions

For special roles, you can grant exceptions from these rules without changing the general requirements for everyone else. You control this under Settings → Permissions by assigning the appropriate rights to the relevant role.

Exception from anti-passback

• Effect: People with this right may enter zones or the construction site multiple times, even without leaving first.
• Recommendation: Administrators, site security, the client.

Exception from the lockout period

„Zutritt: Kann die Baustelle betreten, ohne die Lockout-Zeit beachten zu müssen. (Werkschutz, AG)"

• Effect: People with this right may re-enter immediately after leaving, even if a lockout period is configured.
• Recommendation: Administrators, site security, the client.

(B) Zone-specific anti-passback

In addition to the existing option per turnstile, anti-passback can now also be controlled per zone. This lets you prevent two consecutive entries into the same zone specifically where it makes sense.

This is helpful when your construction site comprises several zones – for example a zone for the site setup area or parking lot as well as a work area zone. You can then have anti-passback apply only to the work area zone, while it is not applied to the site setup area or parking lot zone.
