Can access cards be printed double-sided?

Quick answer
Yes. In the custom card designs, you can set up a template as a Double-sided card and design the front and back separately. With a duplex card printer, this template can be printed double-sided directly. With single-sided printer models, the sides must be printed one after the other or the back sides must be pre-printed.
Where to see whether your card template is single- or double-sided
Under Settings → Access cards → Card templates, the Card sides column shows whether a template is set up as Single-sided or Double-sided.
Create a double-sided template
- On the construction site, open Settings → Access cards → Card templates.
- Create a new employee or visitor template, or open an existing template.
- In the first step or under Edit → Information, enable the Double-sided card option.
- In the design editor, switch between Front and Back and design both sides.
- Check both sides in the preview and save the template.
You need the permission Can manage card designs for employees. or Can manage card designs for visitors.
Option A: Print double-sided directly (duplex printer)
- Make sure that a double-sided template is used in Bausicht for the card in question.
- Start the card print and select your duplex printer’s double-sided printing in the print dialog.
Option B: Single-sided printer → pre-print the back side (recommended)
This option is only suitable if the back side does not contain any person- or card-specific data.
Create an access card with the double-sided template and download the generated PDF. It contains the front side on page 1 and the back side on page 2.
In the print dialog, select only page 2 and pre-print the required number of back sides.
- ⚠️ Make sure the driver is installed and the card printer is selected
Reinsert the cards according to your printer’s feed direction.
For the access cards you create afterwards, print only page 1 of the PDF onto the front side.
