Quick answer
Install the Magicard 300 Windows driver for the Authentys 300, then set the Authentys 300 as the default printer. If you also want to print on the back of cards, configure the duplex and colour options in Windows printer settings. Use Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge to print from Bausicht; Firefox and Safari are not supported.
Step 1: Connect the printer and USB card reader directly
Connect the Authentys 300 and the USB card reader directly to the computer via USB. Do not use a USB hub.
Power supply into the printer, USB cable from the printer directly into the PC, and the USB card reader directly into the PC as well – no USB hub.
Open Bausicht in Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge to print. Firefox and Safari are not supported.
Search for Magicard 300. This is the driver for the Authentys 300 as well.
Download the Windows printer driver as an .exe file. Open the downloaded file in your Downloads folder and follow the installation wizard.
You need administrator rights to install the driver. If you are not allowed to run the file, ask your IT team for help. Restart the computer if the installation wizard asks you to.
Step 3: Set up double-sided printing
If you also want to print on the back of cards, open the Authentys 300 Printing preferences. In Windows 11, go to Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners → Authentys 300 → Manage → Printing preferences. In Windows 10, open Settings → Devices → Printers & scanners → Authentys 300 → Manage → Printing preferences. Change these options:
General → Duplex: change Front side only to Both sides.
Back side: change Monochrome to Colour with black.
Back side: enable Rotate 180 degrees.
Front side: enable Remove HoloKote.
Step 4: Set the Authentys 300 as the default printer
Open Printers & scanners in Windows Settings, select Authentys 300 and set it as the default printer. In Windows 11, find this under Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners. In Windows 10, open Settings → Devices → Printers & scanners; select Manage first if needed. If Set as default is missing, turn off Let Windows manage my default printer. Microsoft explains how to set a default printer.
